Deerfield stands alone as the only Life Care community in Des Moines. The Lifespace Life Care agreement is the gold standard in Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs). You can count on high-quality care for life, right here on campus, at predictable rates, for less than you’d pay on the open market. This incredible offering makes us unique among other Polk County communities that offer independent living alongside a continuum of care. Here’s what that means to you.
When it comes to care contract options, Deerfield has the perfect contract for you. Our Type A Life Care agreement grants lifetime access to top-notch care at predictable, lower-than-market rates. But you can save on your entrance fee by choosing our Type B Life Care agreement, which still provides a lifetime of reliable, high-quality care. Life Care at Deerfield gives you the confidence of knowing you’ll always have priority access to quality care, no matter what the future might bring.
Our premier Type A Life Care protects and supports you with best-in-class benefits, including:
- Unparalleled estate protection with an up to 90% refundable entrance fee, safeguarding your long-term health and financial future
- Access to high-quality assisted living, skilled nursing and rehabilitation services
- Surprise-free monthly costs, even if your needs change
- Significant savings on rising medical care costs when compared to the open market
- Potential tax benefits, as certain fees can qualify as prepaid medical expenses
A portion of your entrance fee will always be refundable to you or your estate. To determine if part of your entrance fee and ongoing monthly fees are tax-deductible, we recommend consulting with your tax adviser.
In addition to Life Care and our Type B residential agreement, ask about our flexible rental opportunities on select floor plans. Reach out to us using the contact form on this page to learn more about the only true Life Care community in Des Moines, Iowa.
Several IRS rulings have established that a portion of a Life Care community entrance fee and monthly fees is deductible as a prepaid medical expense. You’ll be wise to discuss your individual tax situation with your personal tax adviser.
If you have a long-term care insurance policy, you may be eligible to receive benefits from that policy if you need long-term skilled nursing care at Deerfield. In all likelihood, your policy will work hand in hand with Life Care and pay earned benefits directly to you. Consult with your insurance carrier or agent for specific answers regarding your individual policy.
If you outlive your resources for reasons outside your control and are unable to pay your monthly fee, you’re still entitled to priority access to our health care, and your children won’t be saddled with the financial burden. See our Residency Agreement for details.
